This toolkit was developed in collaboration with the IATSE Low Budget Agreement Producers Subcommittee and IATSE leadership to help signatory productions meet their obligations under the 2023 Low Budget Theatrical Agreement.
Under the LBA, employers must adopt a program to prevent sexual harassment and abusive conduct that includes:

Your Quick Guide to Employer Obligations Under the IATSE LBA

1. Adopt & Share Policies
WHAT
Avoid discrimination in all employment practices.
Provide written policies prohibiting harassment, discrimination, abuse, and retaliation in start paperwork. Include definitions, reporting procedures, and federal/state legal remedies.

2. Communicate Expectations
WHAT
Include policies and reporting info in start paperwork. Post the IATSE Safety Hotline (844-IA-AWARE) on call sheets and signage. Optional: share third-party options like MyConnext and the Entertainment Industry Helpline.

3. Train Your Team
WHAT
Remind employees about available harassment prevention training through the CSATF and IATSE Training Trust or other training as agreed upon with IATSE.

4. Offer Multiple Ways to Report
WHAT
Establish multiple reporting channels - internal options to the supervisor, First Assistant Director, or responsible safety officer, or external (e.g., third-party services like MyConnext). Notify IATSE of any third-party provider.

5. Investigate Concerns Promptly and Fairly
WHAT
Investigate complaints fairly and without retaliation using a qualified investigator. If a complaint comes from a covered employee, notify their union about the investigation. Share outcomes with both the employee and their union.

6. Take Corrective Action

If sexual harassment or abusive conduct has occurred, implement remedial action as soon as possible.
